With over ten years of experience in the medical academic research environment, I am highly motivated and possess a strong command of laboratory setup, planning, research, and reporting protocols. My expertise encompasses molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, clinical pathology, hematology, food- and tick-borne diseases, as well as probiotic and prebiotic research.
During my PhD, I gained extensive experience in various laboratory techniques, including antibody purification and quantification, DNA gel extraction and quantification, PCR (gel electrophoresis) and qPCR, SDS-PAGE, DNA cloning and ligation, Ion Torrent Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), Sanger sequencing, phage display technology, and bioinformatics data analysis. I have also developed serological assays (e.g., ELISA) and molecular assays (e.g., NGS) for the diagnosis of zoonotic infectious diseases, particularly Salmonella spp.
In 2016, I obtained a PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Nottingham, UK. Following this, I worked as a Laboratory Research Assistant (Postdoctoral Researcher) in Infectious Diseases and Immunity at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Nottingham. In all of my roles, I have been responsible for managing my workload independently, prioritizing tasks for effective and efficient working.
I possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English, which I have demonstrated through the presentation of research findings at scientific conferences, meetings, and workshops. Currently, I serve as the Head of the Biomedical Science Department at the College of Medicine, University of Zakho. I also lead the "Molecule, Gene, and Diseases" module for Year 1 medical students and the "Infection and Immunity" module for Year 2 medical students. Additionally, I supervise several undergraduate students in their research projects.
